The Journey To Itch & Scratch Free

DIY All-Natural Skin Moisturizers
DIY home remedies for eczema

When it comes to dry, itchy, flaking, or irritated skin, a deep moisturization can sometimes bring a huge amount of much needed relief. The problem is that applying common moisturizers and lotions can also bring chemicals, allergies, and flare-ups. This week I’d like to introduce you to some truly all-natural DIY home remedies for hydrating, protecting, and nourishing even the most sensitive of skin using items you probably already have on hand. As with all skin applications, don’t use anything you have an allergy to.

Dry, Dead, or Flaking Skin

This can be a real pain – both in how it makes our skin look and in how much itching it causes. For many people, especially children with eczema, itching and scrubbing simply don’t help. Buttermilk is a wonderful option in this case because it contains lactic acid and other nutrients that can help gently remove dead, dry skin cells to reveal the healthy layer below.

To use buttermilk, try soaking a clean cloth in it, then applying that to the affected area for as long as you can get your child to comply. 5-10 minutes is ideal. Rinse with cool water when you’re done and enjoy the results!

Dry, Inflamed Skin

The timeless recipe for soothing inflamed skin and hydrating in the deepest way possible only has one simple ingredient – olive oil. A very light layer of organic cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) massages delicately into the skin can provide hours of relief and some amazing benefits for the skin. Olive oil has been celebrated among people dealing with eczema for its healing benefits.

Warning: Do not go out in the sun after an olive oil application as it may increase your skin’s likelihood of burning.

Deep Itching And Dryness

Who said avocados are only for tortilla chips? The healthy fats, nourishing oils, and mineral complexes in avocado puree make a powerful ‘mask’ that penetrates deep into skin layers to relieve itching, soothe irritation, remove heat, and deliver healing oils and nutrients. It can be hard to get a child to sit still for a skin mask application, but if you can, this can be a real blessing.

Irritated, Vulnerable Skin

When it comes to eczema or allergy break-outs, nothing causes more trouble than an infection. Scratching fingernails and vulnerable skin makes it easy for germs and bacteria to make a bad problem much worse. The solution is sweet! Try an extremely thin, watered down layer of organic all-natural honey. Honey is known for being anti-bacterial, antiseptic, and even anti-inflammatory making it the perfect natural remedy to soothe, heal, and protect vulnerable skin areas. While honey is considered to be nearly miraculous by many, it does not replace any anti-inflammatory or anti-bacterial/antiseptic medications given by your doctor.

Magnificent tips! It’s really cool that a lot of people are finding ways to reach out to those who are suffering from any skin diseases. A lot of people are so brilliant and very willing to teach people on how to treat these skin diseases in a way that they know, most especially the natural/organic way. Kudos to all of you!
